During Thursday night’s CNN Republican Town Hall, Anderson Cooper asked Donald Trump about the GOP presidential candidate’s spat with Pope Francis, in which the pontiff said that Trump is “not a Christian.”
Trump replied that the Pope’s comments about him were actually “much softer” than what the media reported and that the Pontiff was misled by the Mexican government.
“He’s got an awfully big wall at the Vatican,” Trump said. “I don’t like fighting with the Pope”
The Republican presidential candidate added: “If and when the Vatican is attacked by ISIS, which as everyone knows is ISIS’ ultimate trophy, I can promise you that the Pope would have only wished and prayed that Donald Trump would have been President, because this would not have happened.”
