Trump Repeats Call to Fire Athletes Who Kneel for Anthem — And Twitter Isn’t Saluting

“When Trump called certain African American NFL players ‘bitches’ last night, he proved their point. This is why they kneel,” one tweet reads

Amidst scorn from athletes, sports fans and celebs, President Donald Trump isn’t backing down from comments he made Friday night calling for NFL players who kneel during the national anthem to be fired.

In fact, the POTUS doubled-down (or is it tripled-down?) on his stance.

“If a player wants the privilege of making millions of dollars in the NFL,or other leagues, he or she should not be allowed to disrespect…. our Great American Flag (or Country) and should stand for the National Anthem. If not, YOU’RE FIRED. Find something else to do!” he tweeted Saturday.

But it doesn’t look like the debate over an athlete’s freedom of speech to kneel during the national anthem in protest of police brutality is anywhere near being over. Many aren’t willing to let the president have the last word.

However, there are those who agreed with him.
