E!’s First Scripted Series ‘The Royals’ Gets Premiere Date and New Trailer (Video)

Elizabeth Hurley stars as Britain’s queen, who is trying to keep her royal family’s scandals under wraps

E!’s first scripted series “The Royals” will premiere on March 15 in the 10 p.m. time slot, and a new trailer suggests the bulk of its hour-long running time will be dedicated to setting up all of the fictional scandal viewers will be endulging in over the course of the drama’s first 10-episode season.

“Money, sex, drugs, power,” star Elizabeth Hurley says in the new trailer.

All four should be perfect themes to explore for the network’s audience that was once addicted to”E! True Hollywood Stories.”

Hurley stars alongside Vincent Regan as Queen Helena and King Simon, respectively, in the new series that depicts the lives of a fictional British monarchy in modern times where power is everything, limits do not exist, and trust is a luxury this family can’t afford.

William Moseley and Alexandra Park play the prince and princess on “The Royals” — both of whom appear to be attracting most of the fictional headlines — while Merritt Patterson, Jake Maskall, Ukweli Roach, Tom Austen, Sophie Colquhoun, and Oliver Milburn co-star. “Dynasty” star Joan Collins will also guest star as the Grand Duchess of Oxford.

“The Royals” is produced by Lionsgate. Creator March Schwahn (“One Tree Hill”) executive produces with Brian Robbins, Joe Davola (“One Tree Hill,” “Smallville”), and Shauna Phelan.
