‘Fear the Walking Dead’ First Look Shows Cliff Curtis Preparing for Zombie Apocalypse (Exclusive Photo)

AMC spinoff drama also stars Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam-Carey

Cliff Curtis is patriarch of the family at the center of AMC’s “Fear the Walking Dead,” and his character will have to make a quick transition from low-key high school teacher to zombie fighter — or at least survivor.

A new exclusive photo (above) highlights Curtis as Travis Manawa, an English teacher trying to navigate blending two families with his wife (Kim Dickens), just as everything starts to fall apart.

The prequel/spin-off of “The Walking Dead” is set in Los Angeles and tracks the outbreak that brings about the zombie apocalypse. Curtis, Dickens, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam-Carey star as the family caught in the middle of the unfolding chaos.

“It starts as a family drama and we filter the apocalypse through that,” showrunner Dave Erickson said during the panel for the show last Friday at Comic-Con in San Diego, where the first trailer premiered.

Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, David Alpert and Erickson serve as executive producers.

“Fear the Walking Dead” will premiere Sunday, Aug. 23 on AMC.
