First ‘Warcraft’ Trailer Amps Up Online Battle for Big Screen (Video)

Film based on the hit computer game to premiere June 10, 2016

Legendary Pictures released the first trailer for the “Warcraft” movie on Friday.

Based on the massive multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG ) “World of Warcraft,” the film takes place in the mystical land of Azeroth. An army of Orcs invade as they are flee their dying homeland, setting up a battle between two heroes that will decide the fate of both orcs and humans.

Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper and Toby Kebbell star in the film. “Moon” director Duncan Jones led the project, in addition to co-writing the script with Charles Leavitt. Legendary, Blizzard Entertainment and Atlas Entertainment are producing. Universal will distribute.

Jillian Share, Brent O’Connor, Michael Morhaime and Paula Sam are executive producing. Charles Roven, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, Alex Gartner and Stuart Fenegan are producing. Nick Carpenter and Rebecca Steel Roven co-produced.

“Warcraft” will premiere in theaters on June 10, 2016.
