“Game of Thrones” actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau will star in thriller “Shot Caller,” which Relativity is in final negotiations to pick up distribution rights to, Bold Films announced Friday.

Roman Waugh will direct the film, which follows a newly released prison gangster who is forced by the leaders of his gang to orchestrate a major crime with a brutal rival gang on the streets of Southern California.

Additional casting is underway, with production set to begin on May 26 in New Mexico.

“We are very gratified by Relativity Studios’ wide release commitment to this gritty, authentic crime thriller,” Bold Films CEO Gary Michael Walters said  in a statement. “This commitment is a testament to the broad commercial appeal of this film and is a great platform for our international distribution activities.”

“Shot Caller” will be produced by Bold’s Michel Litvak and Matthew Rhodes along with Waugh and Participant Media’s Jonathan King, who developed the project. Walters will executive produce with Participant’s Jeff Skoll.

The film will be fully financed by Bold Films and the production will be overseen by Bold’s Lisa Zambri.
