‘Game of Thrones’ Star Oona Chaplin Joins ‘Avatar’ Sequels

Granddaughter of legendary silent film star Charlie Chaplin signs on for several James Cameron-directed films

“Game of Thrones” star Oona Chaplin has joined James Cameron’s “Avatar” films, 20th Century Fox announced on Tuesday.

Plot details are scarce, but Chaplin will play Varang — a strong and vibrant central character who spans the entire saga of the sequels.

The actress, granddaughter of silent film star Charlie Chaplin, recently starred in the TV series “Taboo,” “The Crimson Field” and the feature film “The Longest Ride.”

Chaplin is part of perhaps the most famous storyline on HBO’s juggernaut “Thrones,” the Red Wedding. It was here Chaplin’s pregnant character Talisa and her husband Robb Stark were murdered in cold blood during a wedding reception.

Chaplin has secured herself some gainful employment with the gig. There are four planned “Avatar” sequels on Fox’s calendar, as follows:

“Avatar 2” will open, in wide release, on Dec. 18, 2020.

“Avatar 3” will open, in wide release, on Dec. 17, 2021.

“Avatar 4” will open, in wide release, on Dec. 20, 2024.

“Avatar 5” will open, in wide release, on Dec. 19, 2025.
