The up-and-coming actress talks with TheWrap's Jeff Sneider in the newest edition of “Drinking With the Stars”
On the latest episode of TheWrap's popular video series “Drinking With the Stars,” Laura Ramsey, who plays the female lead alongside Owen Wilson and Zach Galifianakis in Matthew Weiner‘s comedy “Are You Here,” sat down with film reporter Jeff Sneider to discuss how her experience on “Mad Men” helped her land the coveted role.
Ramsey and Sneider enjoyed drinks at Mixology at The Grove in West Hollywood, where the up-and-coming actress looked completely different than she does in “Are You Here.”
Despite working with Weiner on “Mad Men,” Ramsey reveals she was reluctant to audition for “Are You Here,” which had already cast comedy giants such as Wilson, Galifianakis and Amy Poehler.
“I thought, ‘there is no way in hell I'm going to get this role. Those are heavy hitters and I am not a heavy hitter. I don't have the ‘name.’ Why would I go in on this when I don't have a chance of getting it,” said Ramsey, whose courage paid off.
In the second video (below), Ramsey talks about her working relationship with Weiner and how her experience on “Are You Here” was different than “Mad Men.” She also teases her new VH1 show, “Hindsight,” in which she'll play a woman with the ability to time travel.
Watch the video to learn more about Ramsey and how she landed the hotly-contested female lead in Weiner's first movie since “Mad Men” and “The Sopranos” made him one of TV's most powerful showrunners.
