Ivanka Trump Booed at Women’s Panel in Germany After Praising Her Dad

Describing the president as a “tremendous champion of supporting families” did not sit well with the crowd

Ivanka Trump was booed during a women’s panel in Berlin, Germany, after calling her father Donald Trump a “tremendous champion of supporting families.”

According to multiple media reports, including Politico and The Hill, the first daughter was speaking about her father’s attitude towards her women, saying she’s “very proud” of her father’s advocacy, when the crowd moaned and hissed in response.

The moderator (the panel also featured German Chancellor Angela Merkel), then asked her Ivanka Trump to address the response from the audience.

“You hear the reaction from the audience, so I need you to address one more point,” the moderator said, adding that “some attitudes toward women your father has publicly displayed in former times might leave one questioning whether he’s such an empowerer for women.”

“I certainly heard the criticism from the media, that’s been perpetuated, but I know from personal experience and I think the thousands of women who have worked with and for my father for decades when he was in the private sector are a testament to his belief and solid conviction in the potential of women and their ability to do the job as well as any man,” Ivanka Trump responded.

According to The Hill, Ivanka Trump will have dinner with Merkel and will also take part in discussions about empowerment and entrepreneurship at the W-20 summit during her trip.

A representative for the White House has not yet responded to TheWrap’s request for comment.
