James Corden Channels Harry Potter, Gandalf During ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’ Audition (Video)

The late-night comedian tries his luck opposite Renee Zellweger in new “Late Late Show” sketch

James Corden had all the wrong moves when he auditioned for “Bridget Jones’s Baby” opposite Renee Zellweger in a “Late Late Show” sketch that aired Wednesday night.

“This time, we are looking to cast a new charismatic British lead, which is why we’ve brought you in,” a producer told Corden before the CBS late-night host proceeded to bomb with a Hugh Grant impersonation.

“If we would’ve wanted Hugh Grant again, we would’ve cast him,” the producer said.

So Corden kept trying with other characters, including Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter, Queen Elizabeth and Austin Powers.

While wearing a Gandalf costume, he tried his luck with an American accent, but that try was short-lived as Patrick Dempsey walked in and stole the show.

Dempsey stars in the romantic comedy alongside Colin Firth. “Bridget Jones’s Baby” was released in theaters on Sept. 16 and has made $39.4 million globally so far. It was directed by Sharon Maguire and is the third film in the “Bridget Jones” series. It has been rated “fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 77 percent.
