James Deen’s Porn Company Investigated by State of California Amid Sexual Assault Scandal

Cal/OSHA is probing potential “safety violations”

James Deen rape accusations

Amid the growing sexual assault allegations against porn star James Deen, the state of California has launched an investigation into “serious workplace health and safety violations” by his company James Deen Productions, a spokeswoman with the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) told TheWrap Tuesday. The investigation was launched following a complaint by the Los Angeles-based AIDS Healthcare Foundation.

“Our complaint is for lack of condom use,” AHF spokesman Ged Kenslea told TheWrap Tuesday evening.

The AHF complaint alleges that Deen’s company repeatedly violated Measure B, which requires condoms be used in porn films shot in Los Angeles County. Voters passed the ballot measure in 2012. Asked what evidence the AHF had of alleged Measure B violations, Ged said the group “submitted videos” as part of its complaint.

A spokesman for Deen has not yet responded to TheWrap’s request for comment. The Cal/OSHA investigation is not related to the mounting rape allegations against the adult industry superstar.

In recent weeks, Deen has been accused of sexual assault by a growing number of adult-entertainment actresses, including his ex-girlfriend Stoya.

Multiple allegations have claimed that the assaults took place on adult-film sets. In one alleged instance, porn actress Amber Rayne claimed that she was filming a scene with Deen when she called him a “son of a bitch,” which allegedly angered Deen, who Rayne claims punched her in the face twice and raped her.

Deen has denied the allegations on his Twitter account, and this week told the Daily Beast that he was “completely baffled” by the allegations, going so far as to suggest that Stoya may be angry because he is moving in with his current girlfriend.

Stoya was the first woman to accuse Deen, tweeting, “That thing where you log in to the Internet for a second and see people idolizing the guy who raped you as a feminist. That thing sucks.”

She added, “James Deen held me down and fu–ed me while I said no, stop, used my safe word. I just can’t nod and smile when people bring him up anymore.”
