Jason Alexander Joins Rob Lowe’s ‘The Grinder’

“Seinfeld” alum will play creator of fictional TV show on Fox sitcom

Jason Alexander has joined the cast of Rob Lowe‘s new Fox sitcom “The Grinder.”

Lowe announced the news via his official Twitter account, saying, “TV legend Jason Alexander will play the writer/creator of “The Grinder,” the egomaniac and ersatz tough-guy Cliff Beamis. Welcome aboard!”

Alexander is best known for playing George Costanza on the groundbreaking NBC sitcom “Seinfeld.” Since that show wrapped, however, Alexander has kept himself busy with numerous film and television projects. He also played himself on “Seinfeld” co-creator Larry David‘s HBO comedy series “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

On “The Grinder,” Lowe plays an actor famous for playing a lawyer on a hit TV show. He then moves back to his small home town and decides that his time on the air qualifies him to run his family’s law firm, much to the annoyance of his real-life lawyer brother (Fred Savage).

“The Grinder” will premiere on Fox on Sept. 29 at 8:30 p.m. ET/7:30 CT.
