John Oliver Offers to Buy Ad Time on ‘O’Reilly’ to School Trump on Sexual Harassment (Video)

“We submitted it to stations on Friday, but weirdly, we haven’t heard back,” host says

HBO’s “Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver said on Sunday night that he wants to buy ad time on “The O’Reilly Factor” to educate President Trump on sexual harassment.

Last week, numerous advertisers backed away from Bill O’Reilly after a New York Times report detailed his history of alleged sexual harassment. Trump defended the host, saying O’Reilly is a good person, while adding, “I don’t think Bill would do anything wrong.”

“We have produced an ad to educate Donald Trump to air during ‘The O’Reilly Factor’ in New York and D.C. We submitted it to stations on Friday, but weirdly, we haven’t heard back from them since — which is a little surprising, because we are one of the only advertisers offering to buy time on his show at the moment,” said Oliver.

Trump is known for watching a lot of Fox News, often complimenting the network and bashing its rivals. The president was spotted attending New York Yankees games with O’Reilly on a regular basis before running for president.

Oliver then played a clip of his potential ad, featuring the Catheter Cowboy explaining what constitutes sexual harassment in the workplace. The Catheter Cowboy character is a spoof of an actual commercial for catheters that airs on Fox News.

Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor” has been the most-watched show on cable news for over a decade and saw a ratings increase last week despite the Times’ report.
