John Oliver Tells Viewers to ‘Stop Being a D–k’ on April Fools’ Day (Video)

“Anyone who claims to be excited for April Fools Day is probably a sociopath,” the comedian told his HBO audience

John Oliver‘s “Last Week Tonight” may be on break this week, but the comedian still took time to tackle an important social issue: April Fools’ Day.

“April Fools’ Day is to comedy what St. Patrick’s Day is to Irish culture,” Oliver said in a web-only video railing against the unofficial holiday. “That is to say it is a mockery of the very concepts that usually ends in a fist fight.”

Oliver went on to say that only those who enjoy hurting and betraying others truly enjoy April Fools’ Day.

“Anyone who claims to be excited for April Fools Day is probably a sociopath,” he said.

Oliver then told his audience to raise their right hand and recite the “Last Week Tonight” No Prank Pledge, which instructed people to tell anyone planning a prank, “You’re being a dick right now. Stop being a dick.”
