‘Walking Dead’ Alum Jon Bernthal in Negotiations to Join Brad Pitt in David Ayer’s ‘Fury’ (Exclusive)

Sony is distributing the WWII movie, which also stars Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman and Michael Pena

"The Walking Dead" alum Jon Bernthal is in negotiations to star opposite Brad Pitt in David Ayer's "Fury," which Sony is onboard to distribute.

The WWII movie follows the commander of a Sherman tank and its five-man crew on a mission behind enemy lines in April 1945 as Nazi Germany collapses.

Bernthal beat out stiff competition for the role of Grady "Coon-Ass" Travis, a cunning, vicious and world-wise Arkansas native.

Bernthal will join Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman and Michael Pena in the tank.

Bill Block's QED Intl. is producing with John Lesher’s Le Grisbi Prods. and Ethan Smith. Alex Ott is co-producing.

Bernthal has been working non-stop since his breakout turn on "The Walking Dead." He stars alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street," and is the lead in Frank Darabont's upcoming series "Lost Angels." He also co-stars alongside Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro in WB's boxing movie "Grudge Match."

Bernthal is repped by WME, the Burstein Company and attorney Kim Stenton.
