“It’s getting trickier and trickier to satirize this stuff,” “Veep” star says of current political landscape

“Veep” star Julia Louis-Dreyfus took her acceptance speech for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category to stick a big, fat pin in GOP candidate Donald Trump’s ego.

“I think it would be appropriate at this moment to quote our political satire ‘Veep,’” Louis-Dreyfus, who plays politician Selina Meyer on the HBO series, said. “What a great honor it must be for you to honor me tonight.’”

And then the zinger at The Donald.

“Oh no, I’m so sorry, Donald Trump said that. It’s getting trickier and trickier to satirize this stuff.”

Louis-Dreyfus went on to offer the expected thanks to the show’s cast and crew, along with the other usual suspects. She also expressed her love for “powerful funny women,” before ribbing powerful funny woman Amy Poehler.

“Amy, wake up!” Louis-Dreyfus mock-scolded Poehler.
