Justin Bieber Arrested, Charged With Assault, Dangerous Driving After ATV Crash

Charges against the pop star stem from a fight that allegedly occurred Friday in Canada

Pop star Justin Bieber was back in handcuffs Friday after being arrested by Canadian authorities and charged with assault and dangerous driving. The “Boyfriend” singer was allegedly involved in an accident while driving an ATV in Ontario, a collision which police say eventually escalated into a physical fight.

“Investigation revealed that after colliding, the driver of the ATV and an occupant of the minivan engaged in a physical altercation,” Ontario Provincial Police spokesman Kees Wijnands said in a statement.

According to CNN, the 20-year-old’s lawyers insist he was being chased by paparazzi when the event occurred. Photos from Friday showing Bieber and “Spring Breakers” star Selena Gomez riding on the ATV together circulated on various media outlets over the holiday weekend.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez‘s peaceful retreat in Stratford this weekend was unfortunately disrupted by the unwelcome presence of the paparazzi,” Bieber’s lawyer, Brian Greenspan, said, according to The Associated Press.

As TheWrap previously reported, Bieber avoided jail in July by pleading no contest to vandalism charges stemming from an egging incident that occurred in the singer’s upscale Calabasas, Calif. neighborhood. He was sentenced to two years probation and anger management courses.
