Alex Kurtzman, Justin Lin Team for Robin Hood Drama at CBS

“Scorpion” co-EP Paul Grellong will write the project

Alex Kurtzman and Justin Lin are teaming up for a modern-day Robin Hood drama at CBS, TheWrap has learned.

The series, currently titled “A Burglar’s Guide to the City,” has been given a put pilot commitment at the network. It will follow a team of modern-day Robin Hoods, led by a brilliant architect with a troubled past, who use their unique skills to gain access to any stronghold in order to steal from rich criminals and give to those that have been wronged by a corrupt system. It is based on the book by Geoff Manaugh.

Paul Grellong, a co-executive producer on “Scorpion,” will write the project as well as executive produce. Kurtzman will executive produce under his Secret Hideout banner, along with Heather Kadin and Danielle Woodrow.

Lin, also an executive producer on “Scorpion,” will executive produce as well as direct. Manaugh will serve as consulting producer, with Manage-ment’s Nate Miller and Dan Halsted producing. CBS Television Studios will produce.

This is the first new project announced under Kurtzman’s overall deal with CBS. Under the agreement, CBS will have exclusive rights to produce all television content created and developed by Kurtzman’s new company, Secret Hideout, which is producing “Star Trek: Discovery.”

Shows that were formerly produced under Kurtzman’s former company, K/O Paper Products — “Hawaii Five-0” (CBS), “Sleepy Hollow” (Fox), and “Scorpion” (CBS) –will continue production under Secret Hideout.
