Kate del Castillo has finally broken her silence on the Sean Penn-El Chapo saga, saying, “many have decided to make up items that they think will make good stories and aren’t truthful.”

In a series of tweets in both English and Spanish on Wednesday evening, del Castillo added that she looks “forward to sharing my story with you.”

The Mexican actress has been the subject of speculation since joining the Oscar winner for a meeting with drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman for an interview that ran in Rolling Stone last week.

Penn has since met with heavy criticism over the meeting with El Chapo, who was captured by authorities on Friday. However, while the actor is said to be wanted for questioning by Mexican authorities, it does not appear that the “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” star is in any legal jeopardy.

In the Rolling Stone piece published Saturday, Penn revealed that he traveled to Mexico to interview El Chapo for the magazine. Mexican officials tracked Penn’s movements in secret, and have claimed that Penn, without knowing it, helped lead them to the head of the Sinaloa Cartel drug cartel.

CBS News anchor Charlie Rose teased a sitdown interview with Penn while speaking to reporters at a Television Critics Association panel Tuesday. He met with the “Milk” actor on Monday night in Los Angeles to lay the groundwork for the upcoming interview, but a date has not yet been set for when it will take place.

“I have a thousand questions for Sean,” the “CBS This Morning” anchor said.
