It was all about awkward exchanges and New Year’s Resolutions between host Kevin Hart and cast member Aidy Bryant in the latest “Saturday Night Live” promos.
After vowing to be less self-absorbed for the new year, “The Wedding Ringer” star completely missed an opportunity to engage with Bryant, instead simply autographing her shirt and dismissing her.
In another bit, Bryant revealed that she was going to get better at talking with people for her own resolution. She then turned her back to Hart and gave herself positive affirmations about how successfully she talked to a man … “I can hear you,” he finally told her, causing her to shuffle off.
Other bits played off of Hart’s signature comedic style, with Bryant shouting her lines in one because, “I thought we were shouting.” Hart actually had to force himself to talk calmly and quietly to play off of that one.
Another had him excitedly taking over the entire promo, reading her lines as well as his, and even the stage directions.
But in the end, the stars aligned and they both realized that they’re in love … and that Hart needs to cut back on the salt. “I put it in stupid stuff … like my milk,” he said.
