Kevin Smith Joins ‘Marvel Experience’ Tour as Voice of Villain M.O.D.O.K. (Video)

The ‘hyper-reality’ attraction will bring comics to life for fans in San Diego this Feb.

Kevin Smith will orbit the Marvel universe this month, as the multi-hyphenate has been booked for “The Marvel Experience: World’s First Hyper Reality Tour,” a major fan event kicking off in California.

Smith, who has written for Marvel comic series like “Daredevil” in addition to directing films like “Chasing Amy,” will play the voice of villain M.O.D.O.K. when the attraction runs Feb. 7-22 in San Diego.

The announcement came with a promo video that sees Smith playing a dozing security guard, awoken by Thor’s hammer and Captain America’s shield.

Ever since I was a wee butterball-looking comic book fan, I dreamed of going to a live event as amazing as ‘The Marvel Experience,’” Smith said in a statement. “This is like actually being inside of a giant comic book come to life.”

Hero Ventures serves as producers for the pop-up theme park, who intend to take the show across the country this year. M.O.D.O.K., in case you wondered what kind of threat he posed, stands for “Mobile Organism Designed Only for Killing.”

A preview was held in Arizona in 2014, but the full experience touts seven individual domes of features like a 360-degree, 3-D stereoscopic experience which ticket holders enter through a life-size “Avengers” jet. There’s also a motion ride and a training center that offers fans a shot at getting in on the action.

“The Marvel Experience” will feature characters from “The Avengers,” “X-Men,” and “Spiderman.” Smith’s voice will be booming in San Diego, but man himself is currently filming “Yoga Hosers” with Johnny Depp.
