Leonardo DiCaprio Left for Dead in New ‘The Revenant’ Trailer (Video)

Latest film from “Birdman” director Alejandro G. Iñárritu opens in theaters Dec. 25

In the latest trailer for “The Revenant,” we see Leonardo DiCaprio‘s character get left for dead by his compatriots.

The film is based on the true story of 19th-century frontiersman Hugh Glass (DiCaprio), who was mauled by a bear left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal by his confidant John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy).

Alejandro G. Iñárritu, the Oscar-winning director of “Birdman,” directed the film in addition to co-writing the screenplay with Mark L. Smith. It is based  in part on the novel of the same name by Michael Punke.

Iñárritu also produced the film along with Arnon Milchan, Steve Golin, Mary Parent, James W. Skotchdopole, and Keith Redmon.

“The Revenant” opens in limited release on Dec. 25 and expands nationwide on January 8.
