‘Lethal Weapon’ Pilot Adds ‘Rectify’ Alum Clayne Crawford as Riggs

Actor will star opposite Damon Wayans Sr. in Fox adaptation of buddy cop movie

The “Lethal Weapon” pilot in the works at Fox has added “Rectify’s” Clayne Crawford to star as Det. Martin Riggs, TheWrap has learned.

Crawford will star opposite Damon Wayans Sr., who is playing Det. Roger Murtaugh. Riggs is a former Navy SEAL and Texas cop who suffers the loss of his wife and baby. He tries to start anew by moving to Los Angeles and joining the LAPD, where he’s partnered with Murtaugh.

In addition to his role on “Rectify”, Crawford will be seen in Legendary Pictures’ supernatural thriller, “Spectral,” opposite James Badge Dale. Crawford’s other credits include “24,” Alan Ball‘s HBO pilot “All Signs of Death,” “The Baytown Disco” and “Justified.”

Warner Bros. Television is producing “Lethal Weapon.” Matt Miller, McG, Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz will serve as executive producers. Miller wrote the pilot script which will be directed by McG. Jordana Brewster, Golden Brooks and Kevin Rahm have been previously announced as cast members.

The pilot will be based on the movie franchise of the same name, which starred Danny Glover as Murtaugh and Mel Gibson as Riggs.
