News comes same day Spike TV renews Casey Patterson’s show
“Lip Sync Battle” Executive Producer Casey Patterson has a new gig: She’ll executive produce the 2016 MTV Movie Awards along with Garrett English.
“I have always loved The MTV Movie Awards because they represent the coolest, loudest and most hyper-engaged audience out there,” said Patterson. “The Movie Awards isn’t about critics, it’s about the fans, spectacle, comedy and fun. This has always been ‘my’ movie award show as a fan, so to be asked to produce the 25th Anniversary is every exciting.”
“Having worked with Casey on tentpole events and ‘Lip Sync Battle’ for many years, I’m thrilled she is bringing her unique creative point of view to the MTV Movie Awards,” said Erik Flannigan, executive vice president of Music and Multi-Platform Strategy. “The spirit of the Movie Awards is all about passionate fans and incredible talent. No one is better suited to celebrate both in new and inventive ways than Casey.”
Also on Tuesday, “Lip Sync Battle” was renewed by Spike for a third season.
Lee Lodge, Jane Mun, and Jim Roush will serve as co-executive producers on the awards show. Wendy Plaut serves as co-executive producer and executive in charge of Celebrity Talent, and Sandy Alouete is executive in charge of Music Talent.
The 2016 MTV Movie Awards will air Sunday, April 10 at 9/8c.
