Matt Damon, Josh Brolin and Julianne Moore are in negotiations to star in the period noir film “Suburbicon,” which George Clooney will direct from a script by Joel and Ethan Coen, an individual familiar with the situation told TheWrap.

The project is not currently set up at a studio, though talks with Sony Pictures are at a preliminary stage. Joel Silver will produce under his Silver Pictures banner. Plot details are under wraps.

Clooney and the Coen brothers have a longtime working relationship, with the star appearing on screen in hits like “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” and “Burn After Reading.” They reunite next spring for the Coen-directed Hollywood period romp “Hail, Caesar!”

Brolin also starred in the Coen brothers’ Best Picture Oscar winner “No Country for Old Men.”

Damon, of course, previously starred with Clooney in the “Oceans Eleven” franchise and the Clooney-directed “Monuments Men.”
