The Tiger Woods sex scandal that dominated the sports and media worlds for the better part of nine months played out through the tabloids, with Woods and his mistresses holding press conferences and issuing statements throughout.

Woods’ wife Elin Nordegren kept herself largely out of the spotlight, even fleeing to her native Sweden with the couple's children to avoid the glare.

Now that their divorce is final, Nordegren decided to give People magazine an interview. According to People, Nordegren said “this was her first -- and last -- interview, as she intends to remain a private person.” (People said Nordegren’s “people” approached the magazine for the story.)

Quite a coup for People, which spent “19 hours over four visits” with Nordegren at her Windermere, Florida, rental home.

It was also an indirect coup for the “Today” show, where People unveiled its cover and details of the interview.

The big question, of course, is what happened on Thanksgiving night. Unfortunately, People doesn’t get an answer, because Nordegren refused to talk about it, except that “speculation I would have used a golf club to him is just truly ridiculous.”

Really, People? Nineteen hours and no Thanksgiving revelations? Nice get, but I'm scoring that hole a double bogey.
