‘Morning Joe’ Rips Donald Trump: ‘Presidents Do Not Speak This Way’ (Video)

“He said some things that were chilling for anyone that knows anything about history and the importance of judicial independence,” co-host Scarborough says

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough lashed out at President Trump on Thursday morning, referring to Trump’s series of executive orders as a collective “nightmare” and condemning the President’s recent comments about the judicial branch.

“The most concerning thing that happened yesterday didn’t come from the cabinet, didn’t come from the staff members, it came from Donald Trump’s Twitter account,”Scarborough said. “And it came from a speech that he made where, once again, he said some things that were chilling for anyone that knows anything about history and the importance of judicial independence. Presidents do not speak this way.”

On Wednesday, Trump took to Twitter to complain about Nordstrom, Inc.’s decision to stop selling his daughter Ivanka’s clothing and accessory lines. Additionally, Trump’s selection for Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch, said that Trump’s recent tweets about the judiciary are “demoralizing” and “disheartening.”

Trump called the courts “political” during a speech on Wednesday, while he awaits a decision from the ninth circuit regarding his executive order suspending travel from seven predominantly Muslim countries.

Scarborough called Trump’s recent comments “deeply disturbing — adding, “It is dangerous when you have executives trying to denigrate the judicial branch, judicial independence.”

Scarborough and the rest of the MSNBC panel went on to discuss Trump at length, accusing him of “lying about the murder rate” and using “dangerous language.”
