Film will be a “new take” on Mary Shelley's horror classic
The undead monster has long been stabled at Universal, but with the Mary Shelley book in the public domain, Fox is making its own inroads into the horror genre.
Landis' "Frankenstein" will be a "new twist" on Shelley's classic, not a straight adaptation, according to an individual with knowledge of the production.
Landis previously wrote the script for the supernatural thriller "Chronicle." Fox is planning a February 2012 release.
Variety, which broke the story, reports that "Bourne Identity" director Paul Greengrass and "Harry Potter" director David Yates are being considered for the production. Those names are indeed in the mix, according to the individual.
Davis Entertainment will produce.
