Summit Entertainment has acquired domestic distribution rights to Katherine Heigl romantic drama "Adaline," the company announced Sunday, in the run-up to this week's American Film Market in Los Angeles.

The Sidney Kimmel-produced project stars Heigl as a young woman who becomes ageless after an accident at the turn of the 20th Century. Of course, she ultimately meets the man who she's willing to give up immortality for.

The project goes into production in March, with Andy Tennant directing a script by J. Mills Goodloe, Salvador Paskowitz and Allison Burnett.

Summit is planning an early-2012 release for the film.

Kimmel and Jim Tauber are producing the project via Sidney Kimmel Entertainment alongside Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi via Lakeshore Entertainment.
