EXCLUSIVE

Just two days before William and Kate tie the knot, Sony has won a bidding war for a royal-wedding-themed comedy, paying a seven-figure sum for the pitch by Michael Weber (below) and Scott Neustadter, TheWrap has learned.

Coincidence? We don't think so.

The "500 Days of Summer" writers had received offers from several studio to write the movie about an American girl who marries a prince.

Matt Tolmach, former production chief at Columbia Pictures, is producing.

Andrea Giannetti and Doug Belgrad will oversee for the studio.

The writers' "Beginner's Greek" is in development at Warner Bros., with Donald De Line and Charles Weinstock producing.

They also wrote the 2009 "Pink Panther 2."

They are repped by CAA and Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment.
