Add "Hansel and Gretel" to the list of classic fairy tales that Hollywood is preparing to bring to theaters.

Michael Bay's commercial production house The Institute is teaming up with Kalliope Films for a 3D live-action movie based on the Grimm Brothers' classic, The Institute has confirmed to TheWrap.

The Institute co-founder Scott Gardenhour will produce "Hansel and Gretel" with Kalliope Films founder Kira Madallo Sesay.

The look of the classic "Hansel and Gretel" characters will be in good hands with Joseph C. Pepe, the lead character designer on a little movie called "Avatar."

Production is scheduled to begin next spring in Germany.

Coming on the heels of Hollywood hits such as "Enchanted" and "Alice in Wonderland," the project is just the latest fairy tale to get the big-screen treatment.

Hollywood is currently developing films around "Sleeping Beauty" villain Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) and "Peter Pan" fairy Tinkerbell (Elizabeth Banks), while Aline Brosh McKenna is writing a live-action reimagining of "Cinderella." Additionally, Amanda Seyfried is set to play the title character in Catherine Hardwicke's "Red Riding Hood."

The Institute was previously involved with Bay's "Pearl Harbor" and Doug Liman's "Jumper."

Bay is currently filming Paramount's "Transformers 3."
