Netflix’s Riveting ‘Making a Murderer’ Trailer Teases Twists and Turns of Steven Avery’s Criminal Case (Video)

The 10-episode series will start streaming on Dec. 18

The first trailer for Netflix’s “Making a Murderer” will have you on the edge of the seat as you witness Steven Avery’s conviction of rape, exoneration and second conviction for murder.

Directors Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos took on the story of Avery, an outsider from the wrong side of the tracks, convicted and later exonerated of a brutal assault. His release triggered major criminal justice reform legislation, and he filed a lawsuit for millions of dollars in restitution and hopes of exposing corruption in local law enforcement. But in the midst of his very public civil case, he suddenly finds himself the prime suspect in a grisly new crime.

The 10-part series was filmed over the past decade following a 2005 New York Times article about Avery’s story.

The series will premiere on Netflix on Friday, Dec. 18.
