New ‘Pan’ Trailer Teases Hugh Jackman Battling Captain Hook in Spectacular Flying Ship Sequence (Video)

Prequel to classic children’s story opens in theaters October 9

The latest trailer for “Pan,” Warner Bros.’ prequel to the classic Peter Pan story, shows audiences more about the boy who will eventually become the hero of Neverland.

In the film, a young orphan named Peter (Levi Miller) is spirited away to the magical land, where he finds himself at the mercy of the nefarious Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman). The pirate tells Peter of a prophecy of a boy who can fly who will rise up against the pirates that control Neverland.

Peter and his compatriots, including a young man named Hook (Garrett Hedlund), lead the revolt against the tyrannical Blackbeard, culminating in a spectacular battle that takes place aboard dueling pirate ships as they sail through the air.

The film also stars Cara Delevingne, Amanda Seyfried, and Rooney Mara. Joe Wright directed, with Jason Fuchs writing the screenplay based on the characters created by J.M. Barrie.

“Pan” premieres in theaters on Oct. 9.
