New ‘X-Files’ Trailer Shows Flying Saucer Crash Landing on Earth (Video)

Six-episode event series premieres on Jan. 24

The truth is still out there, and a new trailer for Fox’s “X-Files” revival suggests it might be found in a flying saucer that crash lands on Earth.

Friday’s preview comes the same day as the six-episode event series’ Television Critics Association panel, featuring stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.

An alien spaceship isn’t the only highlight of the dramatic trailer. The Cigarette Smoking Man makes an appearance to warn an anonymous co-conspirator that they have “a small problem.”

“The X-Files have been reopened,” the fan-favorite villain says into a phone.

The sci-fi drama returns to Fox on Jan. 24 immediately following the NFC championship game. The two-night premiere resumes on the next day, Jan. 25, at 8 p.m. PT/ET.
