Nick Offerman Touts Pizza as Health Food in Funny or Die Skit (Video)

“Listen, if it’s on a plant, it’s good for you — who cares how it got there,” Offerman says

Apples are usually the healthy option for a kid’s lunch meal, but “Parks and Recreation” actor Nick Offerman disagrees, and touts pizza as a healthy choice in a Funny or Die video.

In the clip, Offerman is on location at a pizza and taquitos farm, where pepperoni pizza slices grow on vines and taquitos grow on trees.

“The government tells us we need to offer healthy choices in school lunches, but what is healthy, really? The answer may surprise you,” Offerman says at the beginning of the skit.

“What could be healthier than this,” Offerman asks as he walks through the acres of vines on which pizza slices grow. “Acres of pizza kissed by the sun, stretching as far as the eye can see. Mmm, fresh pepperoni — straight from Mother Earth.”

Orchards of taquito trees soaking up the minerals are also present on this fake farm.

“Stop pushing fruits and vegetables on them, and let ’em dig in to a fresh-picked bushel of hot, flaky fish fingers,” he continues. The camera then pans to a girl with a staple gun, attaching the food to the branches.

“Listen, if it’s on a plant, it’s good for you — who cares how it got there. French fries are practically salads!”

The video is part of the American Heart Association’s plan to raise awareness for healthier school meals, tagline: “Because our kid’s health shouldn’t be a laughing matter.”

Funny or Die is a comedy video website and film/TV production company, founded by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay.
