Nicolas Cage Confronts a Sex Scandal in ‘The Runner’ Trailer (Video)

Actor plays a disgraced Louisiana congressman in the wake of the 2010 BP oil spill

Nicolas Cage sees his life and career derailed by a sex scandal in a new trailer for “The Runner.”

The film, Austin Stark’s writing and directorial debut, takes place in the aftermath of the 2010 BP oil spill. Cage plays Colin Price, an idealistic New Orleans congressman who finds his restoration plans unraveling as his own life becomes contaminated with corruption and scandal.

“Great men, men who build legacies, they aren’t always decent,” says the voiceover at the end of the promo.

The movie also stars Sarah Paulson, Connie Nielsen, Wendell Pierce, Bryan Batt and Peter Fonda.

“The Runner” is produced by Benji Kohn, Bingo Gubelmann, and Chris Papavasiliou for Paper Street Films and Glenn Williamson for Back Lot Pictures. It is executive produced by Ruth Mutch, Noah Millman, Sam Bisbee, Tom Conigliaro and Erika Hampson.
