If you’ve ever wondered what type of music the leader of the free world listens to, here’s your chance.
President Barack Obama dropped his 2016 summer playlist on social media early Thursday morning, and it’s a lot different from last year’s mix.
Obama’s 2015 summer music list contained songs more fitting for a president who still had some time left in office and needed to impress the American public. It included classics like The Temptations’ “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg” and Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good.” Even though last year’s list gave a nod to hip-hop artist Mos Def, one of the more politically-charged rappers, the president chose to feature “UMI Says” which is one of the artist’s least political songs.
This time around, Obama decided to switch things up a little now that his time as president is numbered. His daytime playlist is a little more thought-provoking, while his nighttime choices have gotten a little sexier.
Obama featured Common‘s “Forever Begins,” which references the civil rights moment, and Nina Simone’s “Sinnerman,” a traditionally black spiritual song. His nighttime list includes Janet Jackson‘s “I Get Lonely” and D’Angel’s “Lady.”
The entire list makes up 39 songs, with sections for daytime and nighttime listening.
