‘Outlander’ Drives Claire into Jamie’s Arms in New Trailer (Video)

Small-screen adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling fantasy romance novel delves deeper into Claire’s journey

The repercussions of Clarie’s (Caitriona Balfe) fall through time are explored more in depth in the newest trailer for Starz’s highly anticipated “Outlander” adaptation.

On her honeymoon with her husband Frank (Tobias Menzies) in 1945, the adventurous Claire doesn’t heed the ominous “be careful after dark” warning from a kindly old woman … and lo and behold, she somehow ends up in 18th Century Scotland. Things seem to be looking up, though, when she meets the swoon-worthy Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), who looks good even in a kilt.

He also gets the chance to protect her honor when, for some reason, 18th Century Scotland has a man who looks just like Claire’s husband running around, only he’s not Frank and he’s actually a pretty bad guy who immediately tries to assault her. So it’s not all castles and romance on horseback for our time-displaced heroine.

“Outlander” will premiere on Saturday, Aug. 9 at 9/8c on Starz.
