Ozzy Osbourne to Receive Global Icon Award at 2014 MTV EMAs

Announcement is timed to Osbourne’s “Memoirs of a Madman” greatest hits release

Ozzy Osbourne is set to take a bite out of the 2014 MTV EMAs on Sunday, Nov. 9, when the British rocker will receive the award show’s Global Icon trophy.

The solo artist and lead singer of Black Sabbath, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and a three-time Grammy-winning singer and songwriter has sold more than 120 million albums worldwide over the course of a career spanning beyond four decades. Osbourne also starred in the hit MTV reality series, “The Osbournes,” which ran from 2002-2005.

This week, Osbourne released “Memoirs of a Madman,” a greatest hits CD and DVD combo, the latter of which features music videos, live performances and interviews.

Previous recipients of the MTV Global Icon Award include Eminem (2013), Whitney Houston (2012), Queen (2011) and Bon Jovi (2010).

The “2014 MTV EMA” will kick off in the U.S. live from Miami, Fla. and will broadcast on MTV channels around the world on Sunday, Nov. 9, beginning at 7 p.m. from The Hydro in Glasgow.

Bruce Gillmer and Richard Godfrey are the executive producers for the awards show.
