‘Real Housewives’ Star Kim Richards Sentenced in Drunken Hotel Meltdown

Reality TV personality receives three years probation and is ordered to attend 52 weeks of AA classes

Kim Richards is a free woman … sort of.

The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star won’t receive jail time stemming from a drunken incident at the Beverly Hills Hotel in April.

However, the troubled reality star has been sentenced to 30 days of community labor, along with three years of summary probation.

She was also ordered Monday to attend 52 weeks of Alcoholics Anonymous classes, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office told TheWrap. Richards must additionally stay away from the hotel while she’s on probation.

Richards was charged with misdemeanor counts of public intoxication, resisting arrest and battery on a peace officer stemming from the incident. The 50-year-old star entered a no contest plea to one misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.

Officers from the Beverly Hills Police Department responded to reports of a possible fight at approximately 1:30 a.m. on April 16. Hotel security reported that an “intoxicated female” (Richards) had caused a disturbance at a hotel restaurant and she was asked to leave. While being escorted from the hotel, Richards asked to use the restroom, then refused to exit, according to police.

Officers entered the restroom and took her into custody shortly after 2 a.m., with Richards “displaying symptoms of alcohol intoxication including slurred speech and belligerent insolent behavior,” police said.

After being transported for booking, police say, Richards “kicked one of the officers in the leg.” The officer was uninjured.

More recently, Richards was arrested on a shoplifting charge in August. During that incident, police said she attempted to walk out of a Target store with approximately $612 worth of goods, but was apprehended by a security guard in the parking lot.
