Rihanna to Receive Video Vanguard Award at VMAs

Rihanna will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at this month’s MTV Video Music Awards.

With the honor, she’ll join previous recipients Jackson, Madonna, Peter Gabriel, Guns N’ Roses, Beastie Boys, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce and Kanye West.

Rihanna has sold more than 61 million albums and 215 million tracks worldwide. The eight-time Grammy Award winner is recognized as the best-selling digital artist of all time.

The Video Music Awards air Sunday, August 28, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV. Rihanna will perform live at the Madison Square Garden event.

Jesse Ignjatovic/Den of Thieves is the executive producer of the 2016 “MTV Video Music Awards.” Garrett English, Erik Flannigan, Sandy Alouete, Lee Lodge and Jen Jones are executive producers. Hamish Hamilton is director.
