BBC reporter Dan Walker got an eyeful while broadcasting live from the Rio Olympics, courtesy of a couple who appeared to be getting hot and heavy on the beach behind him.

Viewers speculated about the couple’s activity on social media as it unfolded, with one Twitter user noting, “There appears to be a couple potentially shagging on Copacabana beach behind Dan Walker’s head.”

A flustered Walker attempted to explain away the amorous spectacle unfolding behind him, telling the audience, “We’re not gonna zoom in, but rest assured, it’s not that. It’s just a hug.”

Walker then veered to an even less plausible explanation.

“They’re reading a book. Apparently they are reading a book. They’re reading a book in a strange pose, OK?”

But it didn’t appear that viewers were buying his excuse.

“Hahahahahahahahahahah YES DAN. Its just a book.They’re just reading a book,” one skeptic chimed in.

“Maybe 50 Shades of Gray,” another posited.

“Reading book on the beach at night?” another asked.
