Paramount Pictures released the first trailer for “Star Trek Beyond” on Monday.
In the trailer, we see Capt. Kirk (Chris Pine) and the rest of the Enterprise crew forced to abandon ship and take refuge on a nearby planet. But once they land, they are quickly thrown into even more danger as an alien force threatens their lives.
Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, John Cho, and Anton Yelchin also reprise their roles from the previous films. Idris Elba is set to play the villain.
J.J. Abrams produced “Star Trek Beyond” along with Roberto Orci and Bryan Burk. Justin Lin directed while Pegg and Doug Jung wrote the screenplay. Jeffrey Chernov, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Tommy Harper served as executive producers.
“Star Trek Beyond” will premiere in theaters July 22.
