Stephen Colbert Fact Checks Trump’s Fake News Claims, Trolls Him Over Time Cover (Video)

“We know you think the Washington Post is fake news, you don’t have to keep on telling us,” CBS late-night host says

Donald Trump just keeps on handing Stephen Colbert material on a plate.

Wednesday’s unmissable topics included the president’s accusation that The New York Times published “fake news,” and the fake Time Magazine cover that was discovered framed in a number of Trump’s golf clubs.

“The New York Times is not the only media outlet that Trump is mad at,” Colbert said in his opening monologue, referring to the Washington Post discovery of the doctored Time covers.

The late-night host suggested that Trump should have gone all out and put himself on the cover of Oprah’s O Magazine instead. We’re sure Winfrey would love that!

Colbert went on to call Trump’s tweet earlier in the day — which said “The #AmazonWashingtonPost, sometimes referred to as the guardian of Amazon not paying internet taxes (which they should) is FAKE NEWS!” — a “fake tweet.”

“First, Amazon does pay taxes … and there’s no such thing as internet taxes. Second, we know you think the Washington Post is fake news, you don’t have to keep on telling us,” he said.
