Stephen Colbert Prepares for ‘Very Real Possibility’ of President Donald Trump (Video)

“Trump is unstoppable. He’s like Godzilla with less foreign policy experience,” he says

Stephen Colbert did the unthinkable on Monday night’s episode of “The Late Show,” and started coming to terms with the idea of a former NBC reality star running the country.

“It’s time to end the denial,” Colbert said. “We as a nation must prepare for the very real possibility of President Donald J.–” at which point he began to retch. “I think I just Trumped in my mouth a little.”

“Trump is unstoppable. He’s like Godzilla with less foreign policy experience,” he continued. Colbert made the proclamation after Trump won the recent South Carolina Republican primary.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz finished in a virtual tie for second place, with Rubio edging Cruz by 22.5 percent to 22.3 percent. Jeb Bush, who finished fourth with 7.8 percent, decided to suspend his campaign on Saturday.

Trump’s victory is expected to add momentum to his campaign as the business mogul heads into Nevada’s GOP caucuses Tuesday and 13 other states voting on Super Tuesday, March 1.

Hillary Clinton pulled off a win over Bernie Sanders in Nevada the same weekend, but Colbert poked fun at the fact that many news outlets treated Clinton’s victory as a defeat.

“Tough win. I don’t know how many more humiliating wins she can take,” he said. “When she announced, Hillary seemed inevitable. Now it’s been almost a year. She’s still not president? What a letdown.”
