‘Straight Outta Compton’ Trailer: Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy-E Rap to Reflect Reality (Video)

Snoop Dogg is also a character in the biopic hitting theaters this summer

Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy-E’s tough personal lives before they made it big as members of N.W.A. are revealed in a new trailer for upcoming biopic “Straight Outta Compton.”

Universal Pictures’ Aug. 14 release chronicles the rise of the group from the streets of South Central Los Angeles in 1986 to music superstardom.

When one reporter at a press conference complains that the group’s songs “glamorize gangs and drugs,” Ice Cube (O’Shea Jackson Jr.) corrects him by explaining, “Our art is a reflection of our reality.”

Corey Hawkins plays Dr. Dre, Jason Mitchell plays Eazy-E, Neil Brown Jr. plays DJ Yella and Aldis Hodge plays MC Ren, who joined the group in 1988 — the same year original member Arabian Prince left.

Other hip-hop figures portrayed in the film include Snoop Doog, played by Keith Stanfield, and embattled Death Row Records founder Suge Knight, played by R. Marcos Taylor.
