Suge Knight Murder Case: Lawyer Claims Racial Bias, Alleged Victim Testifies

The murder case against Marion “Suge” Knight has taken more twists, with alleged victim Cle “Bone” Sloan testifying in court Monday and Knight’s attorney suggesting that the former rap mogul is the victim of racial bias while being held in jail.

Attorney Matthew Fletcher told TheWrap on Friday that his client Knight, who faces charges of murder and attempted murder, is being held in solitary confinement at the Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles, with Fletcher serving as Knight’s sole contact with the outside world.

“He cannot meet with any investigators or experts or other attorneys on the case,” Fletcher said. “He has not been allowed to speak with his elderly parents or children for almost three weeks.”

Fletcher also claimed that “not a single Caucasian has been subjected to this treatment,” suggesting race is a factor in Knight’s alleged mistreatment.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department disputed Fletcher’s claims, calling them “inaccurate.”

“Mr. Knight is receiving all the appropriate medical care and necessities that any inmate receives in jail,” the spokesperson said Monday. “He is allowed visitors, in addition to meeting with his attorney. He is in a single person cell, but is next to other inmates. There is a court order that restricts his telephone usage.”

This isn’t the first time Flecther has complained about Knight’s treatment. Earlier this month, the attorney said the situation at the jail was comparable to military interrogation site Guantanamo Bay in Cuba. He has also alleged that Knight is getting inadequate medical care for his glaucoma, diabetes and other ailments.

Meanwhile in court on Monday, Sloan — who was injured in a hit-and-run involving Knight in January — testified that he’s “no snitch,” the Los Angeles Times reports.

“I don’t want it to get misconstrued that I told on this man,” Sloan said. “I’m no snitch. I will not be used to send Suge Knight to prison.”

Sloan also testified that he didn’t recognize Knight on the day of the alleged hit-and-run in Compton, Calif., adding, “I can’t say this man ran me over.”

During Monday’s hearing, the judge in the case accused Sloan of being “deceptive,” according to the Times.

Knight is accused of intentionally running over Sloan and Terry Carter, 55, killing Carter and injuring Sloan. Knight, whose bail has been set at $25 million, has pleaded not guilty.

During a court appearance on a separate matter last week, Knight complained of being chained to a mandated wheelchair that was used to wheel him into court.

“I walk perfectly fine,” said Knight, who has been rushed to the hospital on multiple occasions on days when he was scheduled to appear in court.

Last week in court, Knight also said that he had fired his attorney David Kenner.
