Airball? Not Everybody Digs Katy Perry’s ‘Swish Swish’ Music Video: ‘A Whole Lotta Cringe,’ ‘So Bad’

“‘Swish Swish’ music video looks like a movie that got 0% on Rotten Tomatoes before it even got out,” one Twitter user writes

Katy Perry dropped the official music video for her single “Swish Swish” on Thursday, causing some Twitter users to celebrate and others to “cringe.”

The so-called KatyCat superfans are generally over the moon about the “Space Jam”-style mini-movie, in which the singer assembles a team of misfits to take on a cartoonish basketball powerhouse.

The production value is excellent, and the guest stars are pretty solid — the actual hoops and comedy action are neither. Think we’re being too harsh on the humor? Katy Perry plays “Kobe Perry.” Hilarious.

We’ll let you decide for yourself about the actual song’s quality — this writer is already going to get enough grief on social media.

“Can we act like the swish swish video never happened?” one Twitter user wrote in response to this morning’s pop music news.

“The only thing I have to say about the Swish Swish MV is that I appreciated Nicki telling Katy to get it together and I hope she listens,” another tweeted.

There were more where those came from. Scroll through some of the more negative responses below, because this is the internet. Watch Perry’s actual video above.
