‘The Hobbit’ Actor Manu Bennett Arrested for Allegedly Punching Man at Texas Comic Con

Manu Bennett made an unexpected journey on Sunday — to jail.

Bennett, who plays Azog in “The Hobbit” movie franchise, was arrested Sunday after allegedly punching a man at an Alamo City Comic Con party, My San Antonio reports.

The 45-year-old actor was charged with assault causing bodily injury.

According to media reports, Bennett allegedly struck the man at a party at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Antonio. The incident allegedly occurred shortly after 4:30 a.m.

A spokeswoman for Bennett has not yet responded to TheWrap’s request for comment.

The actor was in town to appear at the Alamo City Comic Con.

In addition to “The Hobbit” films, Bennett has also appeared in the television series “Spartacus: War of the Damned” and “Arrow,” as well as the upcoming fantasy series “The Shannara Chronicles,” which is scheduled for a January 2016 premiere on MTV.
