‘Divergent’ Star Theo James, Dakota Fanning Join Richard Gere in ‘Franny’

Up-and-coming filmmaker Andrew Renzi is writing and directing the indie drama for Treehouse Pictures

“Divergent” star Theo James and Dakota Fanning are in negotiations to join Richard Gere in Andrew Renzi’s indie drama “Franny,” TheWrap has learned.

Kevin Turen of Treehouse Pictures is producing the film, which finds Gere playing a hedonist who wedges himself into the lives of a young couple, to be played by James and Fanning.

Up-and-coming filmmaker Renzi is directing from his own screenplay, which has earned high marks from talent representatives in Hollywood. Renzi developed the script at this year’s Sundance Screenwriters Lab. His short films “Karaoke!” and “The Fort” also debuted at Sundance.

Production is scheduled to start next month in Philadelphia.
